Moving Along With The Times Challenge (till 12/12/2012)

This week's challenge on Moving Along With The Times blog is Clean and Simple. "Clean & simple is a creation with clean lines, lots of open space & a few if any embellishments."  So I think this card fits the theme!

Papertake Weekly Challenge (till 10/12/2012)

Washi tape is quite popular, but I have to confess I never used it before.  This is my first card and I now know why people love it.  It's so easy and cardmaking goes so much faster.  I'll definitely want to buy some other designs. I want to enter this card for the Papertake Weekly challenge: Anything goes.

Totally Tilda Challenge 61 (till 16/12/2012)

This is probably one of my favorite christmas stamps from Magnolia.  I love colouring this image, so I had a little stash and this card was quickly finished :)  I'm entering this card for the Totally Tilda Challenge: Tilda Sitting Pretty. I've only used Basic Grey papers from the Dasher collection and the sentiment is from Marianne Design 'Eline's Vintage Kerst teksten'.

Oldie but a Goodie Challenge (till 10/12/2012)

I still have to make a couple of christmascards, so I've kept this one simple.  I want to enter it for the Oldie but a Goodie Challenge: Let it Snow.  The hedgehogs on their sledge are an old Penny Black stamp from the set ' Christmas Critters', coloured with pencils.  The sentiment stamp is from Marianne Design 'Eline's Vintage Kerst teksten'.  The patterned paper is from a (cheap) paper pad from Kruidvat and the last supplies I've used are the Spellbinders.

Dutch Magnolia Chickies Challenge 34 (till 14/12/2012)

I can hardly believe it, but cardmaking is going really good this week :) So the challenge on the Dutch Magnolia Chickies was not so difficult: Make a christmascard .  I've used Tilda under Mistletoe (2009) for this one.  I've coloured her earlier this year, but have forgotten to write down the copic numbers.  I've used Dovecraft Christmas Fancy papers, again. These are really my favorites this week :).  The sentiment is from Hero Arts 'Holiday Sayings'. I've created the finishing touches with a Provocraft die Snowflake #2 and Basic Grey rhinestones.

Stamp and Create December Challenge (till 06/01/2013)

Another christmascard I've made this week.  I want to enter this one for the December challenge on Stamp and Create blog: Sparkly Christmas. To create the sparkling element, I've added white stickles on the christmas hat and rhinestones to the snowflakes.
(supplies: Dovecraft Christmas Fancy papers, Lily of the Valley stamp Teddy Balancing Act (both were blog candy from Lisa), Marianne Design Vintage Kerst, Basic Grey rhinestones, Provocraft die Snowflake #2)

Sugar Bowl Challenge 97 (till 12/12/2012)

This is already the third christmas card I've made this week.  It's based on the sketch from The Sugar Bowl Challenge: http://sugarbowlblog.blogspot.be . I've worked quite a long time on this card.  I've tried different colours and different patterned papers, but it still doesn't look right.  I'm especially having problems with the small rectangle in the middle, but couldn't find a great alternative.
(supplies: Sugar Nellie 'Kiss me Quick', Marianne Design sentiment, Dovecraft Christmas Fancy papers, Doodlebug brads, copics).

Workshop Lut 2

I already made this card in October when I followed for the second time a workshop in Lut's shop (http://blog.chriscoudenys.be/).  This workshop was given by Linda, who I know from a Belgian stamping group.  She started her own blog last week, so I'd definitely recommand to visit it: http://lindekesblog.blogspot.be/.   We used alcohol inks for this card. The background was easy and quickly ready, but colouring the girl and the christmas balls took a long time. I'm not sure this is a favorite technique for me, although I absolutely love the result. Unfortunately I pushed to hard when I stamped the sentiment so the text is to thick :(  I'll try to do better next time!

Lili's Little Fairies: Pastel Colours (till 05/12/2012)

I'm back with my second christmas card of today.  I didn't put the patterned papers I used on the previous card to far away as they are perfect for the challenge at Lili's Little Fairies:  pastel colours  (http://liliofthevalleythursdaychallenge.blogspot.be/2012/11/pastel-colours.html).

The sentiment is a stamp from Forever Friends 'Christmas sparkle 1'. The image is LOTV Christmas Teddy Balancing Act, which was also a part of Lisa's candy ( http://wishcraftcards.blogspot.be/) together with the Dovecraft Christmas Fancy papers.  Again I've used copics to colour this gorgeous teddy. The snowflakes are from a Provocraft die (Snowflake #2). I finished with Stickles and Basic Grey rhinestones to add  some glitter to the card.

Christmas Challenge 52 (till 04/12/2012)

I'm having vacation this week, but we stay at home and planned some daytrips.  Because it started snowing this weekend, I don't want to risk going to far with my car and it seems our trips will be cancelled. But I already have a plan B: making christmascards! It's been a while since I've been creative, so I still have lots of cards to make.  For the first one I've used the sketch from Christmas Challenges (http://christmaschallenges.blogspot.be/2012/11/sketch-52-sponsored-by-hein-design.html).
The stamps I've used are: CC Designs 'Heidi with ornament' and Marianne Design.  I coloured the image with copics (YG03-23, BG 23-34, RV 21-23, Y15-17, R37-29-59, E50-51-R02). Patterned papers are Dovecraft Christmas Fancy which I received as a candy from Lisa (http://wishcraftcards.blogspot.be).

Baby Card Made by My Mum

My youngest niece Katrien had a baby girl, Stien on October 7th. My mum wanted to give her a handmade card.  My mum is still a starting cardmaker, so I had to help a little bit.  Detailed colouring is not her strongest point, but luckily we used aquarel pencils and  I managed to get it right.

Another babycard

After a 4 year during adoptionprocedure, a collegue of me finally got a (2-months old) baby girl! This is the card I made for them.  The colors on the photo aren't really good.  I've used the same papers as on my last card and I'm not putting them to far away 'cause my niece is expecting a baby in 10 days time :)

Creanijn Kaartjes Challenge 001

http://creanijn.blogspot.be/2012/09/ckc001-kaart-met-een-schets.html

The first Creanijn challenge came just in time, 'cause I had to make a card for a collegue that had a baby girl.
With the challenge sketch, the inspiration came very quickly and I'm happy with this result :) These are the materials I've used:
Sei papers from the Chick-a-dee collection
Martha Stewart punch Doily Lace
Forever Friends stamp (image)
Stampin Up stamp (sentiment)
Copics: R000-00-02, E31-33-35

my try of the workshop

Because you can't buy all the stamping stuff available, I tried to use the techniques of the workshop I followed in Lut's shop (http://blog.chriscoudenys.be/) with my own materials.  I used ecoline (201 + 506) in stead of Dylusion sprays, my white pen didn't work anymore (so it gave a glaze in stead of white look) and of course the stamps are differently too.
The result ended up a little to dark, but hey this was only my first try, so I think it looks quite ok.

Workshop Lut

It's been so long since my last post, but I didn't really created much lately.  I've had so many other things to do.  On August 3rd I did follow a workshop in Lut's stampshop (http://blog.chriscoudenys.be/).  It is not so nearby for me, but it was definitely worth the drive. We made this gorgeous card, which is still standing on my desk to look at it every now and then :)

Thank you - cards

On June 2nd there was a reunion of the Belgian Stamping Club 'Creatief met stempels'. We had a great day, but I didn't finish my workshop cards yet. So I'm showing the 'thank you' cards I've made for the 2 organizing ladies. I got the inspiration for both cards from the latest Art Specially magazine.

Birthday card

I started this card a while ago for a Sugar Bowl challenge, but didn't finish in time. It was just laying in my cupboard until last weekend when I finally glued it together and added the sentiment: it's YOUR birthday. I've used Basic Grey Wisteria papers (I think this is my favorite collection ever) and coloured the image with Copics. Her hair and the lovely dress make it a really nice image to colour and experiment with shadows. I'm actually very proud of this result!

Art Journey Challenge 21: zentangle

http://artjourneydesign-team.blogspot.com

As I finally bought my first Art Jourey stamps in Zeist, it was the first time I could enter this challenge. And it definitely was a challenge for me. I love watching zentangle, but I think I'm not patient enough to do it myself and my arm even hurt after a while. I'm happy with most of my designs except one is a little messed up, but I hope you don't see it to much. I might give it another try, but not immediately I think.

Sugar Bowl Challenge 83

http://sugarbowlblog.blogspot.com

I really can't choose between cute stamps and other stamps. Just look at this fantastic Sugar Nellie stamp! I've made this card to enter Sugar Bowl's Challenge 83: I've turned the sketch around and made it rectangle, but I hope you can recognise it. I've used K&Company papers from the Lotus collection.

Art Specially 2012

It's been a while since I've shown anything here. As we are redecorating our hallway and I underestimated the time we had to spend on this, I haven't made anything since my last post. I did think I deserved some leisure time in between the painting works, so on April 14th my mom and I went to Art Specially in Zeist. We had a wonderful day and we treated ourself quite well, but this will probably be the only event we will go to this year, I had some interesting coupons and there were really fantastic promotions! The first picture is an overview, but to see everything more detailed I've added some other pictures too. The last one is from a make and take from Scrapheap: my result was not perfect, but really nice to learn this technique with gesso. Next time I'll definitely want to do some more make and takes or workshops!

Some more cards

My mum and I both created 2 cards last Sunday. I think these are the nicest ones :) We both scraplifted the same card but ended up with a different result.

I used Basic Grey Pyrus patterned papers and my mum chose an embossingfolder for the background.

Birthday cards

Last Sunday we didn't have any plans and my mother suggested we could make some cards. I think I succeeded in my mission to turn my mother into a cardmaker :) It's really so much nicer to do this together!

The first card is my try to make a simple birthday card. It seems easy to create a simple card but I'm having difficulties to find the right balance between simplicity and decoration. I think this card is heading in the first direction and still misses something.

The second card is my mum's creation. I think she can be proud of the third card she ever created.

Three in a row

Another card my mother and I created this weekend!

I have to admit my background almost ended up in the garbage bin. It was the first time I created a whole background with a smaller stamp. Luckily my fourth attempt was usable. I really should practice more with my stamp positioner. My mother kept is easier and the script background stamping was based 'on her feeling'.

Another simple card

This card didn't turn out the way I wanted, but I guess that happens sometimes. Maybe it's because I'm not used to this simple style. I used Colorbox ink for this card. The flower stamp is from Prima Marketing and the sentiment is from Penny Black. It's not good visible on the picture, but there are two lines created with a needle.

My mother's first card!

Because of the real winter weather in whole Europe, it was to cold to go outside this weekend. I tried to convince my mother to make some cards together. And because this week a friend of her celebrates her birthday, she agreed pretty quick.

To get started we watched examples, I let her choose some ideas and we tried to lift these. My mother's style is best descibed as 'clean and simple'. This is the first card we created. There are some details we'll have to work on, but I'm pretty proud of my mum :) If you should doubt: the card with the rose is from my mother.

Cowboy

Another image from my stash. I created the background with Ecoline and salt. I don't know which ink I should best use on such a background, 'cause the black comes off a bit. Because the image is quite big, I didn't have to do much more: I just added some stars with Versamark in the background and a box with the sentiment.
My supplies: cowboy from Third Coast (draggin'), stars from De Creatie and sentiment from Whimsy Stamps

Challenge on stamping group

Every two weeks there's a challenge on our stamping group. As I'm such a slow crafter, I sometimes start with a challenge, but then my ideas get blocked and most of the time I don't finish it in time. But I plan to do better this year!
The first challenge is to use something old and something new on your card, atc, etc. The background is the old part of my card. I made it a couple of months ago and it's lying in my box since then. The stamp I embossed in gold is my newest stamp :) It's not a new design, but I only bought it last week.
My supplies: the girl is from Paper Artsy (US-Yule Tide Plate 1), the new stamp is from Artemio-Magenta and on the background I used stamps from Marianne Design and Hero Arts.

A condolancy card

Another image that I have for a long time, but now I finally used it in a card. I've learned this 'mirror' technique on a reunion of a Belgian stamping club. Because the image has a dramatic feeling, I used it for a condolancy card. Hopefully I don't need it soon.

The tree was one of the first stamps I ever bought. In fact I didn't stamp at that time, but as a local craft shop stopped I bought all kind of stuff there. I don't remember the brand right now. The (Dutch) sentiment is from Different Colors.

Simple Butterfly card

This is another example of stamping with distress stains. When I bought them a while ago I tried to use them in different ways, but I didn't do anything with these tests untill now. I didn't know how to start on this card and then there was this idea. Very simple, but I like it a lot :)
The butterfly stamp is from Tattered Angels (Nature Grateful Journey) and the sentiment is from Stamps Antwerpen (I think).

First card of 2012

When I look back at 2011 I see that it was not such a creative year for me. So one of my resolutions for this year is to spend less time behind my computer and much more time on crafting. Since it's only the first week I'm holding on to this resolution :)

I stamped the image with distress stains. Maybe the stamp had to many details, so the result was an unrecognisable image. As I didn't want to throw this away, I stamped on top with black ink and it looks good enough for me.

The image is from Crafty Individuals and the sentiments are from a Hero Arts clear stamp set.

My favorite cards of 2011!

2011 wasn't my most creative year, but I intend to do better this year!

These are my 5 favorite cards:
